On February 29^th-March 3^rd, 2024, Northwestern Bank’s Tracey Smiskey and Erin Drilling were pleased to attend this year’s Once Upon a Prom. Along with supporting the event in person, Northwestern Bank also donated a $1,000 sponsorship. 

Once Upon a Prom is held in Eau Claire, WI and gives girls from the Chippewa Valley and surrounding areas, who may not be able to afford items for prom, the chance to earn those items through community service. The event provides prom dresses, shoes, jewelry, and handbags to local girls who are not able to afford new ones. Each girl completes six volunteer hours within the community before attending the event. In 2023, over 1,300 hours were spent volunteering in the community because of Once Upon a Prom.

“Once Upon a Prom was one of my favorite events that I attended this year. It is incredible to support an event that promotes self-respect, a positive self-image, and self confidence in young girls. It is also so encouraging to hear about the community volunteer hours that each girl completed to attend,” shared Tracey Smiskey, Northwestern Bank market president Eau Claire.
