Building Beds for Kids

Posted:

On August 24th, 2024, Northwestern Bank sponsored a bed building event with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Over 30 employees, their families, and friends all gathered in Chippewa Falls to participate in this volunteer opportunity.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a non-profit dedicated to building beds for children in need. They believe that all children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. At the event, volunteers built 25 beds for kids in the Chippewa Valley during this fun, physically social way to give back to the community. To date, Sleep in Heavenly Peace has gotten 1,093 kids off the floor and into beds. Their mission is, “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!”.

“Events like this bring out the best in everyone. It’s great to see our team and their families working together to make an impact by doing hands-on work for the children in our local communities. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is well organized and knows how to create a fun volunteer event and get work done,” shared Tracey Smiskey, Northwestern Bank market president Eau Claire.

Our team enjoyed getting to put our values into action. A core value of our bank and team members is to create a positive impact. By supporting Sleep in Heavenly Peace, we are able to ensure that our youth are able to have restful nights of sleep in their own beds.
